Why You Should Be Using Slideshare

Slideshare is a free online presentation uploading service.

Check out this Slideshare presentation below and see some of the Slideshow capabilities:

The presentation below is an example of how I created a presentation on Keynote (Mac) that I presented live to The International Coaching Federation. I knew they would want a copy of this presentation so I uploaded to Slideshare and made available to everyone that attended my live presentation.

Another benefit of Slideshare is to learn from some of the best presentation designs. I saw this presentation below the other day on Slideshare and I could not wait to apply some of the great font ideas displayed in this presentation for my next presentation design.

Here are some ideas of how you may repurpose Slideshare in your business:

  • A Slideshare vs. a blog post. Be unique and mix up your blog posts with Slideshare presentations vs. a written blog post.
  • Use Slideshare as a storage facility. Upload your non-confidential presentations to Slideshare as a backup storage place.
  • Use Slideshare as a list building tool. If you have a great presentation, people will notice and check-out your website.
  • Use Slideshare as a component of your speakers and media kit to showcase your presentations.
  • Use Slideshare as a Search Engine Optimization tool. Create super presentations on your market niche and complete the “tag” section of your Slideshare presentation with keyword rich tags so you may be found on online searches.
  • Use Slideshare to collaborate with another co-presenter. Find a rock-star in your market niche and partner to deliver a killer presentation together. You can create, modify, and update using Slideshare.
  • Use Slideshare as a live webinar replay. You record the audio of you speaking during your presentation. Then upload both your presentation and your audio to Slideshare. You now have a Slidecast (see Slidecast on Slideshare website) that can serve as a presentation replay.

BONUS IDEA:

  • Use Slideshare to spice up an interview. I created a simple Keynote presentation by having one question per slide. Invite someone to co-present with you. You have 1 minute to answer each question and then the next slide advances. See example below (-audio).
