How to Create Your First Customer Video

You are a small business owner or a professional service owner.

You are interested in using video as part of your online marketing, but you don’t know what to say or how to do it…

By reading our blog post, we hope to answer the WHAT and WHY in using videos for the first time as a component of your online marketing system.

Here we go…

You can repurpose and time-shift customer focused videos enabling you to…

  • Offer your personality to your customer experience pathway.
  • Tell your customers what you have to offer.
  • Tell your customers what to do next.

There are many ideas, but here are just a few to get you started:

  • Asking questions to uncover the top perceived challenges in your market niche.
  • Customer endorsements, testimonials or case studies.
  • Positioning that you are a market niche expert.

Let’s look at the following videos below as examples.

Video #1 is a Google Customer Experience and Awarness video. I saw this video on a Seth Godin post and thought it would be perfect as an example of interacting with people in your community. They don’t even have to be customers of yours.

  • Imagine the possibility of asking people in your community a question such as, “What is your top challenge or frustration in .
  • Ex) What is your greatest challenge in hiring a book keeper for your small business? If we were speaking one year from today, what would have to happen for you to receive chiropractic care for your back wellness?
  • Notice the inexpensive hand-held microphone for improved sound quality and a “journalist” effect.
  • Video edited on inexpensive or FREE iMovie editing software.
  • Background music is FREE on Podcast Safe Music or Music.Mevio.com

On this video, I grabbed my $150 dollar Flip Video camera and filmed my experience in my hometown of me talking to local small business owners near my office. Have you heard of the term, “The Millionaire Next Door.” Well you are looking at them. Added bonus, when I roll into Tony’s Seafood or Spicer Brother’s Produce, they always “kick it up a notch” for me.

You can also hire a local professional videographer at an affordable rate. Our client and business partner, The Trunk Club hired a local video professional to shoot this video in a day. Now here is the real proof of a video. Can you quickly get a good feel for exactly what The Trunk Club offers by watching this short video?

Once again, a quick example of a testimonial. I was speaking at a conference in Las Vegas and I had my trusty Flip Video with me. I offered the first two people to share their experience of my workshop for a discount on future services. I uploaded the raw video to iMovie and 10 minutes later had a simple testimonial video.

We find there are two reasons why most small business owners don’t create videos:

  • Too difficult to produce and edit. Option #1-contact us and we do everything for you (you will be amazed at the price) from content creation, editing, production, distribution, you name it…Option #2-Google how to create a video and upload and you can learn how to do for free with some basic technical understanding.
  • Don’t know what to say. Some ideas include: quick interview of customer, customer testimonial, Answer questions such as The Top 3…or How to ….

You can do this!

Did you know that YouTube is the #2 search engine?

Why not share great information in a highly personal way to your ideal customers and increase your odds of getting found on the internet in the way people are searching for your business services in your local community and the virtual world-at-large?
