About

I’m Matthew Ray Scott and here’s more about me.

I wanted to jump from airplanes, so I did.

I became an Army officer and was a psychological warfare specialist in charge of a propaganda development team, commanded combat medics in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, and served as a Captain in the legendary 82nd Airborne Division.

After leaving the Army in 1994, I served in various sales & marketing consulting positions in the medical device and biotechnology market. Within six years of leaving the Army, I managed to get myself promoted to a co-developer and Vice President, Sales & Marketing of a medical device business that we eventually sold for 16x earnings.

I wanted to start my own company, so I did.

I started a Portland full-service digital marketing and social influence agency with clients ranging from start-up entrepreneurs, small business owners, best selling authors, Fortune 500, and government organizations. My entrepreneur story has been shared in the book, Escape From Cubicle Nation by Pamela Slim and various radio interviews including Career Renegade by Jonathan Fields, The Small Business Advocate and Small Business Trends.

The Strategic Incubator marketing and social media strategy has been featured in various media including The Wall Street Journal, The Today Show, USA Today, and numerous local and online publications. I also get to speak and lead small business marketing and social media workshops as a speaker for the Five Star Speaking Agency.

I was asked to create & lead a direct to consumer initiative with a regenerative medicine company.

Today, I’m the Sr. Director of Social Media & Connections at Cytori, a leader in solving unmet medical solutions with regenerative and stem cells. Cytori has invested more than $250 million dollars and was recently ranked by Fast Company as one of 2010 World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies.

My life with my wife of 25 years and our children is filled with significance. Currently, we live with intention next to Torrey Pines Beach in San Diego and the ski trails of Mt. Hood and the Pinot Noir vineyards of the Willamette Valley, Oregon.
